Morning Glory
I met her along my way, but
she didn’t have much to say.
Her simple smile was enough
for me to stay just one more day,
until I had to say good-bye.

Being an outlaw in the Wild West
some think was the best thing a person
could be. They were always free,
but they were always also on the run.
That wasn’t always fun, trying to get
away from their past not knowing when
their next step was the last.
Big names like Billy the Kid,
Butch Cassidy and Wild Bunch,
Jesse and Frank James all have become
romanticized institutions, and caught
or killed with the law’s best intentions.
There were outlaws who changed with
the times, and learned how to rob
safes from banks and fast-moving trains.
While doing this took skill, the outlaws’
popularity was confused with a sense of fame.
A few of the outlaws survived to tell
their tales and what were facts were booked.
These became the material for Hollywood
movies, that added their own look.
So what do you know is fake, and what’s real?
It depends on how you feel about the truth.
Easy Street
Life is full of contradictions
and it’s okay to drive in the out.
Education was the key to the door,
but money is what it’s all about.
There’s satisfaction in a job well done,
but the reward is just more work to do.
It is easier to watch others succeed, and
you wonder who really is the fool.
It’s all about who you are inside, and
what compromises are to be made.
Then life falls like a ton of bricks,
And you can’t tell what’s real or fake.
Personal relationships are tested, and
Yes, you do need more than just love.
Expectations mix with success, and
You end up with a house full of stuff.
Life is full of contradictions, and
No one said things would ever be fair.
Working hard is no way to easy street,
But be creative, only if you dare.
How would you like to get something to dress up your laptop or your desktop computer? The answer is a free poetry poster with one of my favorite poems, “If,” illustrated by one of my wildflower photos taken in Texas. Use the poster for wallpaper or the screensaver. You can print it and frame it, too. Just click on the image on this page and and choose the “Save photo as” option when you right click again. You name it. You can use it. Then find the “main page” link on the right side of the page to go back to the main page.
Enjoy.
