Our Love Is Still the Same
The big front door of this old house
don’t squeak no more,
and the carpet has covered the ole tiles
we laid on the floor.
The house we built in the country
is now in the city.
Our lives are getting complicated
and we’re far too busy.
We have gone through all the phases,
making many changes,
Yet it it doesn’t seem different because
our love is still the same.
All of our seeds have been sown
and they’ve grown.
Though we have moved, it was a place
we still called home.
All our children each have a family
and children of their own.
We live a life only our grandparents
could have known.
We have gone through all the phases,
making many changes.
Yet it doesn’t seem different because
our love is still the same.
The world has changed before our eyes
especialy with technology.
We have learned to expect any surprise,
and demand cable TV.
Cars get a little faster, countries get closer,
and it’s all on the news.
God, family and patriotism are now not a
universal point of view.
We have gone through all the phases,
making many changes.
Yet it doesn’t seem different because
our love is still the same.

Open Poetry Forum
The purpose of any blog is to go beyond a static Web site and work to get feedback from the site’s readers. One way this Web site can perform this function is through a a free open poetry forum.
Imagine a small café with a large corner stage large enough for a small band, but this time it has a solitary microphone and a high bar-style chair. It’s open mike night at the neighborhood coffeehouse with an audience relaxing to favorite flavors of tea, coffee or other beverages.
The open poetry forum on Elias Tobias World of Words is this coffeehouse where starting March 1, 2007, readers of the Web site can become participants by submitting poems for view by other readers, and the great thing about his coffeehouse is that it will always be open, beverage not included.
There are a few rules, of course. The poems can be on most any subject using and form or style (or lack thereof), in English, and must be original material by the author making the submission. Length can vary, but not be more than 30 or 35 lines. The poems can be emailed to contact(at)eliastobias(dot)net and they will be reviewed by the webmaster. Sharp, clear head shots may accompany a poem with a brief background of the author. Only one poem should be sent at a time, so send the best shot.
Like most public Web sites, such as those connected with state universities, poetry will not be accepted if it is:
1. Racist or discriminatory to any race, ethnicity or country of origin.
2. Sexually explicit or pornographic.
3. Extremely violent in nature or it displays excessive use of profanity.
4. Terroristic in nature or supportive of terrorist activity.
After a poem from an author, other than Elias Tobias, is posted, the author retains further publishing rights, and only first publishing rights are claimed by this Web site since the entire contents are copyrighted by the Webmaster.
Like poems submitted to the open poetry forum, comments about may be sent to contact(at)eliastobias(dot) net, and must conform to restrictions to those for poetry submitted. Whether the comments are positive or negative, it is the hope the open poetry forum that the comments are fair and constructive so people can become better writers.
For now, the open poetry forum will be free.
So get your ideas and pens ready for the open poetry forum.
Dreams
Our dreams were the same
right from the start, and a fire
grew from a flame sparked
by love from your heart. My life won’t be the same,
now that you are here, and
we wont play any more games
’cause I’m free with you near.
Our love won’t stay the game,
It will continuously grow,
and dreams of fortune and fame
will come true for us I know.

Day and Night
I will love you this morning
as much as you loved me last night.
I’d rather live with these feelings
than ones I get when we fight.
I like to feel your fingertips on
my skin when you hold me tight.
My yearning for your love will
l grow in the dark and in the light.

Secrets Not Shared
A pretty face and a pretty heart
are two things which are hard
to combine or to tell apart.
I try give real love a chance,
but your out for a little romance.
There’s a trade of trust for lust,
and this isn’t how it has to be.
This love is between you and me.
All I can think of are secrets shared,
but you just take your clothes off
and let down your long brown hair.
How can I show you that I care?
Weighing Relationships
I wish 1 could give you my word,
but that would not be enough,
I Wish I could give you my heart
but pain would be too much.
I know I could put this to an end.
We could smile and be friends.

My Valentine
There’s a big place
in my heart for you,
even though other affairs
used to come and go.
Their love was surface deep,
but your love touches
the depths of my soul.

Real Man
You touch my hand,
and my fears disappear.
I know I’m vulnerable,
but I need your love.
I was hurting for so long,
and I hid behind a wall.
You chipped away the mortar,
and the bricks started to fall
I no longer have to fake it.
With your love, I’ll make it.
You give me the strength
to call myself a real man.

In the Valley of Emotions
I’m glad I didn’t let you sleep.
I want to show you your love is
deep as the valley of my emotions.
Long ago your heart planted a seed
that grew into something I need.
I just have to have you near.
Now I know my love for you is real.
There is no other way I can feel.
I thank the Lord you are here.

Smoke
I really didn’t give you a chance,
because of events in my past.
I tried to push you away when
I needed you to stay with me.
I thought I wanted to be free.
Even though the bridges we made
were burned, the smoke lingers in
the air and I just wasn’t fair.
I want to give our love another try.
