Guilty

Guilty

It is easier to tell the truth,
Than it is to lie, and it takes
Less words and effort to do so
Than to create a cover story,
Even for the clever and sly.
Truth can hurt the heart inside,
But it is better than to fight for
Falsehoods, and even die,
For such deaths are in vain.
They just cause more pain.

It’s Not Wrong to Sing This Song

It’s Not Wrong to Sing This Song

I hope the several cups of coffee
will get me through the night,
at least to the end of the show.
Like a thief, I sell stolen notes
from a silent song writer who
has gone and I’ll never know.
The women scream and shout,
and the audience tells me
they’re  having a good time.
Like a thief, I take the thoughts
from a forgotten poet and
act like the words are mine.

It’s not wrong to sing this song.
It feels good and pays the bills.
I take feelings and make them real.
It’s not wrong to sing this song.

I make a living as a singer,
and I need to sing the songs.
They may not be my words or music,
but I know it’s not wrong.
I get dressed up to entertain
them in my boots and cowboy hat.
They get lost in the words and music,
and they keep on coming back.
The people want to have a good time,
and nothing’s wrong with that.

It’s not wrong to sing this song.
It feels good and pays the bills.
I take feelings and make them real.
It’s not wrong to sing this song.

It’s not wrong to sing this song.

Young ducks rest in the shade of one of the small lakes at an Indianapolis, IN, apartment complex before record rain set in causing record-levels of flooding in some areas of central Indiana.

As the sun closes out another day, the storm clouds, that brought high winds, tornadoes and and heavy rain over the last two weeks, disappear, revealing a calm night sky.

Lovers Fighting

Lovers Fighting

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

The red lights start flashing,
and old friends get hurt.
The knife had cut again,
and the devil is at work.
The is for the just,
and protects the insane,
The people in the middle
seem to inflict the pain.

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

Love has no boundaries, and
travels with great speed.
When a heart is broken,
revenge is what some need.
Revenge turns to hate,
and the love is lost.
People become pawns when
the battles are fought.

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

Love doesn’t disappear
when the feelings have gone.
Memories of the good times
make the fantasy linger on.
Lovers want love to survive,
and that is why they fight.
They want to save feelings
which were born in the night.

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

I’m frustrated and confused,
and yet I don’t want to be used.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.
You say that you want me,
but you still want to be free.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.

I don’t know how to love you,
or if I should know you at all.
It would be so easy to fall
in love again this time.
Maybe we could just be friends,
and my desire for you would end.
Or it could only begin, and to
love you would be a sin.
One touch of your hands
make my heart understand
I am to be with you.

I’m frustrated and confused,
and yet I don’t want to be used.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.
You say that you want me,
but you still want to be free.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.

I don’t know how to love you,
or if I should let you go away.
It would be so nice to stay
in love again this time.
Maybe we could just be friends,
and my desire for you would end.
Or it could just begin, and then
my emotions would win.
One touch of your hands
make my heart understand
I am to be with you.

I’m frustrated and confused,
and yet I don’t want to be used.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.
You say that you want me,
but you still want to be free.
I’m stuck with a forbidden love.

Love Is the Only Medicine for a Broken Heart

Love Is the Only Medicine for a Broken Heart

Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.
When you fall in love again,
there’s a brand-new start.
Tablets, pills and therapy
can also be tried,
but just one thing will keep
you satisfied.
Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.

If I were to fall in love again,
it would be with you,
There’s no one else who makes
me feel like you do.
Since you have been in my life,
I haven’t been the same.
The changes have been good.
I feel a new flame.

Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.
When you fall in love again,
there’s a brand-new start.
Tablets, pills and therapy
can also be tried,
but just one thing will keep
you satisfied.
Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.

I have more energy to live,
each and every day
since we first got together at
the club by the bay.
I hope you feel the same as
much as I do for you.
Your love make me feel alive,
and I’m never blue.

Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.
When you fall in love again,
there’s a brand-new start.
Tablets, pills and therapy
can also be tried,
but just one thing will keep
you satisfied.
Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.
Love is the only medicine
for a broken heart.

I am a writer

Filed under: My favorite poems, New Poems, Figments of my Reality — admin @ 3:24 am

I’m a Writer

I am a writer, a fighter,
and I fling my verbs
so that a voice inside
me can heard
by those  who will
love me and hate
me at my every word.

I am a writer, a fighter,
and champion of a cause
so that  I can show
solutions to life’s flaws
which appear to those
who break one of the
many confusing laws.

I am a writer, a fighter,
and in my own special way
speak for those who
don’t have time to say
what is in their hearts
because they work hard
just to finish the day.

I am a writer, a fighter,
one with a silent voice
that has power in a
limited world of choice
which is polluted by
those who always
need to make loud noise.

I am a writer, a fighter,
and I’ll write to the end
for it is a right which
many have died to defend
so I could be free
to write what I wish, even
to those I might offend.

I am a writer, a fighter,
and I put words to song
so if you like the music,
too, just sing along, and
maybe my message
will still be here
long after I’m  gone.

June Newsletter

Newsletter for the World of Words by Elias Tobias

summersnapshotl.jpg

Alice Cooper said is best when he sang the song, “School’s Out for Summer.”  June is here, and its time to do things that you do not do while school is going on, like go on vacations and trave or have more time with your friends - all kinds of agenda changes.

The theme for the next three months at the World of Words by Elias Tobias is Summer of Fun.  Words and photos will illustrate this theme, and readers are invited to send their summer snapshots via e-mail with basic caption information, and published with the new Summer Snapshots logo at contact(at)eliastobias(dot)net.  Just have a Polaroid or a film camera?  Photos can be put on a CD or prints can be scanned. Also any summer videos sent to YouTube can be promoted  on this Web blog with the appropriate Internet link.  Of course, all photos should be of publishable content and quality.

Poetry First-Aid

Sometime the words don’t seem right, no matter how long you have thought about the feelings to be expressed in a poem, or you have not used the right tools to get the poem in a final form. Here is where I can help. With Poetry First Aid, a poem written by someone other than myself can be sumbitted to eliastobias2002(at)yahoo(dot)com to Poetry First Aid. I’ll work with the original text, help edit it to be a better poem, and the result may be a better poem.  The new poem belongs to the original writer, with all rights reserved.  It’s free.

Free, free, free, free, free

The World of Words by Elias Tobias has several free opportunities for its readers to become part of the web blog.  First, it is very easy to send a comment about any poem on the screen.  Go to the right side of the page and see link to the free open poetry forum for those those have poems to submit to others to read, or get a free poetry poster,  see links to other poetry Web sites, get free tips about how to get published,  take free poetry writing lessons.

Now it’s time to turn up the volume for for songs from the radio, as Poems of the Month.  If you are inspired to write some music for these lyrics, let me know at contact(at)eliastobias(dot)net.

write_on1.jpg Poems of the Month

I’m Your Radio

Turn me on.  Tune me in.
Turn out the lights
and let the loving begin.
I’m your radio.  I’m your radio.

When I first saw your face,
I felt a tingle through my toes.
All it took was only one look,
and your eyes pierced my soul.
You didn’t have to say a word.
I could feel you read my mind.
You took my heart  away from me
and never said a line.
Put your arms around me, babe,
and hold on to me tight.
I never want to let you go.
I want to love you tonight.

Turn me on.  Tune me in.
Turn out the lights
and let the loving begin.
I’m your radio.  I’m your radio.

I know you have feelings for me,
enough to know more than you care.
How else can I make you see
there are secrets we can share?
My heart is for you to take.
You know I can’t  be refused,
or soon my heart will break.
I’ve been this way before, babe,
and maybe I’ll get hurt again.
Come through the open door
as a lover, not just a friend.

Turn me on.  Tune me in.
Turn out the lights
and let the loving begin.
I’m your radio.  I’m your radio.
Turn me on.  Tune me in.
Turn out the lights
and let the loving begin.
I’m your radio.  I’m your radio.

Blue Over You

You have left me, babe,
and now I’m blue.
You have gone away, oh,
and I am the fool.
Can’t sleep at night
‘Cause I’m thinking of you.
You have left me, babe,
and now I’m blue.

My shoes are tattered since
I’ve been walkin’ the streets.
The laces are worn and
the shoes fall from my feet.
Things haven’t  been right
since you left me last week.
You have left me, babe,
and now I’m blue.
You have gone away, oh,
and don’t know what to do.

My mind has been scattered,
and I can’t even think.
Dreams of us together are
forever down the sink.
Things haven’t  been right
since you left me last week.
You have left me, babe,
and now I’m blue.
You have gone away, oh,
and I am the fool.

My body has been shattered,
and my muscles are weak.
My heart is heavy, and I
can feel it skip a beat.
Things haven’t  been right
since you left me last week.
You have left me, babe,
and I’m the fool.
You have gone away, oh,
and I’m feelin’ blue.

My soul has been battered.
I  hate the mid-day heat.
The comfort of the cool
darkness is what I need.
Things haven’t  been right
since you left me last week.
You have left me, babe,
and I’m feelin’ blue.
You have gone away, oh,
and I’m the fool.

I’ve been tattered, shattered,
scattered and battered, and
I’m getting blue over you.
I’d like to see you soon.
Things haven’t  been right
since you left me last week.
Can’t sleep at night
‘Cause I’m thinking of you.
You have left me, babe,
and now I’m blue.
