The Path

Lord, you were always in front of me,
but the harder I looked, the less I could see.
I needed a sign, proof or a signed guarantee.
Now my vision has improved and there will
always be a place in my heart for thee.

I’ve learned to live on your love, and love
in the faith I will be blessed to be alive today.
My journey to this point has come a long way,
It will be on this course I know I’ll not stray,
even though people will offer other roads to
travel and places they think I should stay.
With your grace, I will follow your path, I pray.

My legs wobble and my fingers
tingle as I start to cut the
strings that once controlled
my every move.
I can feel my heart beat, too.
Unlike Pinocchio, though, I
have seen and felt the
results of being controlled,
with the faith in a master
and creator weakened.
I need to make my own
mistakes and own my future.

Seeds of Insurrection

Seeds of Insurrection

Swift, sharp blades can quickly mow down hundreds of flowers,
But the flowers, at the peak of revolution, have seeds of insurrection
Tossed about in the debris and they settle in the blood-stained
Earth to grow deep roots so that the owners of the lawnmowers will
Remember what they did and perhaps pay the price for the deeds.

A Hanging in Guntown - the movie

During the weekend Patty and I went to Kentucky to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we stopped at Guntown Mountain and saw a staged shoot out and hanging.  I took several photos of the event and the place and made them into a silent-movie era film.  The law always gets their man.
