The Keys to the Door of My Heart
Editor’s Note : The inspiration for this poem and the poem is dedicated to my niece who recently married her childhood friend. He will help her with her journey away from what could be paraphrased as the Dark Side of drug abuse. She has taken control of her life and responsibility for her young daughter. Her husband has decided to be the father to a child not biologically his, but in time may be possibly adopted. I enjoyed taking the wedding photos, even though is was raining in the park, and it was my gift to the young couple. Many people have wondered what gets me started to write poems, and the answer is life past the front door.
The Keys to the Door of my Heart
Kiss me.
Kiss me now.
Kiss me like you never have kissed me before
And I will give you the keys to the door of my heart.
Hold me.
Hold me now.
Hold me like you never have held me before
And I will give you the keys to the door of my heart.
Love me.
Love me now.
Love me like you never have loved me before
And I will give you the keys to the door of my heart.
Care for me.
Care for me now.
Care for me like you never have care for anyone before
And I will give you the keys to the door of my heart.
Marry me.
Marry me now.
Marry me like you never wanted to marry anyone before
And I will give you the keys to the door of my heart.

20th wedding anniversary trip
(Photo courtesy of the National Corvette Museum)
Patty and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary during the third weekend in July in Louisville, KY. We have been there before and decided to use it as hub for further adventures a drive away from the hotel. One of the places we went was the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY, and had a good time. I took lots of my own photos of course, but we had these taken in front of a green screen and were put into or by different vehicles. Here we are with a 1968 blue Corvette. I’d like to own a 1974 or 75 model myself, but I would have to win the lottery first. (Click on the photo to get just the enlarged picture.)

Reciprocity
Sometimes I bleed from the outside in.
Righteous indignation gets under my skin.
Doctors are stunned and
don’t’ know where to begin.
To touch me would be considered
a mortal sin.
Then symptoms goes away,
and everything is reversed.

Point of No Return
This poem was submitted to Eber & Wein Publishing after I received an email that I had been selected to participate in the company’s “Best Poets of 2013″, their annual compilation that features poets selected by editors from the company. The poem was entered into the Poet of the Year contest and be eligible for any prizes or awards. The poem was also included in Expressions, a CD of audio versions of selected poems by the editors.
Point of No Return
From the night’s dark abyss,
the early morning light reveals
blood stains floating on the water,
a sign that the winds of change
have moved in a new direction.
Terror mounts with each tide.
This is an evil from hot knives
held by spirits in men who have
moved past the point of no return
and left footprints in the sand.
