American soldiers have been turned into efficient, calculating fighting units serving our country in ways that will never disclosed, but that doesn’t mean these men on the front lines, however blurred, are not without feelings. One such soldier is a member of the Lambda Sigma Chi Fraternity, Brian Kohut. From an undisclosed place and time on one of his missions in his service to this country, he was with a woman worth memorializing in a poem from his past. Perhaps she is more than the person he met and she represents women in this situation.
The Singing Whore
She’s a real pistol in bed, and when she shoots,
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
She loves any lover who comes through her door.
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
She sings her song better than the day before.
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
She’ll make love anywhere anytime, even on the floor.
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
Goods are great from this girl at the company store.
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
When gets done with you, the body’s tired and sore.
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.
Sometimes I wonder who she is singing for, and
You’ll get a little more since she’s a singing whore.

As the sun goes down over 82nd St in Indianapolis, IN, near the bridge which goes over I-465, the wires, trees and telephone poles, characteristic of an urban landscape, are silhouetted against a tangerine sky for a moment until the source of the display disappears behind the horizon.

The small community of Cicero, north of Indianapolis, had a modified version of its annual Balloon Glow event the weekend before July 4th. The event, held in conjunction with other activities, usually has 15 balloons that have limited up and down rides along with music-synchronized lighting of the rest of the balloons staying grounded. This year, weather conditions warranted a synchronized “Twinkle”, the blasting of flames of helium without the balloon attached with only six balloon baskets participating. The audience something also was treated to a chance to walk inside a balloon inflated by a large powerful fan.
