Memorial Day Tribute
Memorial Day Tribute
Memorial Day is coming up soon, and I wrote a poem that would be a tribute to those who were injuried in the heat of battle or the result of conflict in any of the wars fought by U.S. servicemen, including those who are returning ffrom the Middle East. No pictures are really necessary here, because most people have a relative in their family in this situation. If not, that family is lucky or they have experienced the pain of laying a soldier to a final resting place.
Wounded Soldier
I don’t fit in my Army uniform any more.
It’s been a long time since I served in war.
I wheel my chair to get through the door.
I’m sure I could get a new uniform, if I tried,
And I’m sure it would still show my pride.
I’d hold my Purple Heart in my hand tight
For those who did not survive the fight.
