Minimum wage sage
I’m in the growing service industry,
and work a minimum wage opportunity.
In a few years, or ten, I may be middle class,
With a house, pool, dog and all that.
But for now I pay rent for a roof over head,
And I pray to God I don’t wake up dead.
I’d really like to buy a new, better car,
But a used vehicle gets me around so far.
My phone works, but it’s not so smart.
My lack of technology sets me apart.
I have a good place to raise a family,
But sometimes their wants are a fantasy.
I come home late when I was to be off,
But it’s extra work that helps with costs.
They say it’s the 1 percent who run the economy,
But they wouldn’t worth a nickel except for folks like me.
