All in a Pill
We’re sick, so we take some medicine,
Usually in the form of a pill.
Society’s sick, and we want quick
Fixes to its long-term ills.
Government spends too much, so
We raise taxes or cut the budget.
We’re too fat, so we look for
Results in a revolutionary diet.
We put ourselves at a crossroads,
With little room for compromise.
People need to be helped while
Pride and principle fuel the divide.
The weight of indecision has
Consequences beyond the belt loop,
Bellies are feed and pockets filled
As some get another bowl of soup.
There has to be a commitment
For a full medical recovery.
We can and have been able to
Work together in this country.
