A squirrel in the open spaces of Garfield Park, Indianapolis’ oldest city park, stares at the two people having a spring picnic at a table he claimed has his territory. My wife and I tried to appease the critter with potato chips tossed at it as it drew closer. At one time, a younger, trimmer squirrel approached the ground around the picnic table and the older, fatter animal chased it off only to return to guard the able for any scraps that may have been left behind.
