Going Home
Going Home
Brother Christopher Benedict has been a quite reflective type of person, and that suited him as a writer and journalist for a career in the newspapers. Working less toward retirement his may be getting more reflective in his poetry. Here is an older poem he wrote after he was discharged from the service and was on the way home.
Going Home
As I look out the bus window
I can think of nothing but home.
It’s a place that is always there
no matter where I may roam.
Someday I will settle down with
a place and family of my own.
As my children grow into their world,
they can return home.
Wow, I really can’t believe it. The World of Words by Elias Tobias going continually for 13 years. That’s a lot of poems. I like to write my poems and I am glad I was able to share them as part of the Lambda Sigma Chi’s. When I think of all the columns ans stories I wrote for the newspaper, it seems like a lot of work, too. Somewhere they are all archived for some historian to look at in year to come, but this poetry web blog is alive with many different parts. it is archived, but it is easy to access for the future readers of the site. I am proud to be a part of it all.
