Milestones
Hundreds of men and women have
braved the elements, encountered
unimagined situations and tested
their personal strength to blaze
a trail into the unknown frontier,
and I hope to follow their example
into this new time so I can still
have an impact on people’s future.
The names of those have come before
may have been forgotten and are buried
in the unmarked graves that are now
the dirt that is the ground we walk on.
Although the challenges of the past
may have been conquered, from
medical miracles to transportation,
this is a new era when people like me
can create new milestones in the
different technologies, even though
most may not even remember my name.
Some problems seem to never go away,
and are part of the human character,
the attributes which defined those
who blazed the trail before me.
