Old Friends
Old Friends
A pair of names, circled with a heart, are
etched permanently on the school desk,
indelibly recorded with layers of ink …
another sits on the signs of the past.
Skirts flirted once, and eyes rolled
around the room searching for love,
even though feelings were young …
another looks for a future “old friend.”
