Graveyards Smell After It Rains
Graveyards Smell After It Rains
Brother Christopher Benedict has a way with words, since they are his living. As a youth riding his bicycle around, he said he remembers cemeteries beeing different with rain. He has tried to define this sense with this poem as a adult.
Graveyards Smell After It Rains
The child sniffed the air, and asked
“Why to graveyards smell funny after it rains?”
and his father replied,
“You’re smelling all the souls being cleaned.”
then with a wondering expression on his face,
the child asked “I thought they were
cleaned before they died.”
