Bubba’s Barbeque
Bubba’s Barbeque
I remember back when I was in high school,
every guy had a girl, and mine was Barbara Sue.
I had my own car, and the Beatles were cool.
Friday nights were spent at Bubba’s Barbeque.
Barbara Sue worked as a waitress every week there,
And I loved to watch her with her long blonde hair.
They guys and me went for fun without a care as
hickory smoke rolled from the fire and filled the air.
Bubba’s Barbeque was just outside of town, just
past Miller’s lake where Barbara Sue almost drown.
She spilled barbeque sauce on her pretty prom gown.
Many memories linger since it was torn down.
Now the city’s growth kinda leaves me blue,
but one person keeps me happy, Barbara Sue.
We’ve had several children since I said, “I do,”
and I hope to open my fourth Bubba’s Barbeque.
Five years after it closed, I bought the business’ name,
and worked to make the feelings of youth the same.
Other generations have come to make their claim
Bubba’s Barbeque is the best in the whole state.
nice post. thanks.
