Summertime Blues
Summertime Blues
Brother Karl Dobson recalls the end of past summer romance, and he was inspired to make it into half of a song. If you have music to put with these words, contact The World of Words by Elias Tobias and get inspired, too.
Summertime Blues
Chorus
I got the summertime blues.
I’m not sure if it was
Something I did, or
A crazy thing I said.
All I know now is that
Your love for me is dead.
There’s not much left to say,
Except that the last thing I wanted
was for you to get up and walk away.
I got the summertime blues.
On days likes these I can
Remember when we had
so much fun together then,
and I miss you again.
I got the summertime blues.
My mind goes back to the park,
When we talked until dark,
and watched the sun go down.
We went to nearby restaurant,
Where the pizza was not so hot
But your smile kept me there.
Good times were shared.
I got the summertime blues.
There were moments that
For a second made me sad,
And sometimes you were mad,
But we made up, and got over
things that were in the way.
Then you decided not to stay.
I got the summertime blues.
Chorus
I got the summertime blues.
I’m not sure if it was
Something I did, or
A crazy thing I said.
All I know now is that
Your love for me is dead.
There’s not much left to say,
Except that the last thing I wanted
was for you to get up and walk away.
I got the summertime blues.
I wanted the last one of my poems on the World of Words to be special, and even though I wrote this poem so long ago I forgot her name, I did learn a valuable lesson - that women are a mystery, and they still are for me today. Over the years, I have learned what they don’t want, sometimes. I glad I am able to share this poem and be a part of the this poetry blog. E.T. has done a great job a building it up, and I can understand he needs a break. Thirteen years is along time to keep something like this going.
