You’re a virgin in my heart.
Together we can make a new start.
It doesn’t matter where we were
Before; we’re opening new doors.
I want our memories to last,
and to forget about our pasts.
Our hearts can beat as one.
Now our lives can be fun as
We see each other everyday.
I pray it stays that way.

Personnel Policy

The noose is put around my neck,
And the report deadline is set.
If I work hard and long enough I can slip
Away from the tightening bonds that
Pose a threat to me and my family.
But the real costs are the loss of time
With the ones I love and need to be near.
Only my employer stands to gain.
For a while, until the rope hairs start
To tickle too much and I hang.

Prisoner in my Palace

I’m making a prison for myself
when I draw the bridge
and lock the front gate,
and the gates in between.
Silent guards keep watch
over me while I sleep, but
The next day comes, and
even this knight goes to
work while the palace
still has to be guarded
from thieves who break
windows for cheap trinkets.

The Joke

While I wrestle with the pillows and sheets,
something in my mind can’t let me sleep.
There’s a thought that echos in my head
as I roll around alone in my bed.
It was something you once said.
You asked if I would know when it was the
time for me to go. I thought it was only a joke.
But the laughter has gone away.
Your spirit left me yesterday,

… and I’m a more sober man today.

Lovers Fighting

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

The red lights start flashing,
and old friends get hurt.
The knife had cut again,
and the devil is at work.
The is for the just,
and protects the insane,
The people in the middle
seem to inflict the pain.

Battles will be won, but
the war will not cease.
Lovers keep on fighting, and
there will never be peace.

Love has no boundaries, and
travels with great speed.
When a heart is broken,
revenge is what some need.
Revenge turns to hate,
and the love is lost.
People become pawns when
the battles are fought.

Love doesn’t disappear
when the feelings have gone.
Memories of the good times
make the fantasy linger on.
Lovers want love to survive,

The Truth, Too

Naked,
bare,
raw,
the truth is shamelessly exposed for
the public to see and hear through
constantly changing technologies.
Complex,
related,
connected
problems can be striped to a simple
solution backed by a fundamental
belief in the truth.
Lies,
deception,
manipulation
are uncovered in the process while
searching for the truth, and those
responsible are punished.
Carefully,
constantly,
diligently,
the search for the truth continues
in time of peace and in time of war,
because we need to know it exists.

These eyes

These eyes have been a witness to
The best and worst of what people bring.
The capacity to care and give has exceeded
some people’s material possessions and means.
But here are others who sanitize their sanity, and
stay clean of touching lives of their fellow man.
Charity is not the act of giving something for a hope
Of some return; it’s helping another person stand
on their own two feet, and giving them food to eat.
It’s an activity that doesn’t happen at Christmastime.
It’s something people should often repeat.

These eyes have been a witness to
The best and worst of what people bring.
Two people look at each other, and feelings grow
into a relationship promised by wedding rings.
Then over the years, the feelings start to fade, and
The damage continues even after the divorce.
They say there is the other woman or man, but
The problem really stems from another source,
the feelings of jealously or bad communication.
They key to successful long-term affairs is not sex,
but a sense of respect without any conditions.

These eyes have been a witness to
The best and worst of what people bring.
When special groups or nations can’t solve
their differences, they fight for their king,
and for property, for commerce, for a god,
and others who died. The only solution is a war,
and any resolution for a peaceful deal is used
 as a stalling weapon as soldiers go out the door.
Men and machine guns step in ankle –deep mud,
blood and bodies as they rush to take a strategic hill.
heir answer to the solution is to kill, kill, kill.

These eyes have been a witness to
The best and worst of what people do and say.
There are problems which need to be solved,
but for each one, there is more than one way
to arrive at the best alternative; and the secret
to the solution is how much people want to give.

Photographs

That’s not me, really.
It is a picture of me,
But it shows how I used to be,
And how I was is a part of
My life, my resume, my history.
I was a different person then,
Back when I didn’t know things
And I had more hair on my head.
I was perhaps a little thinner then.
Now I can afford to be better fed.
Now the changes are obvious to see,
But I couldn’t see the forest through the trees.
I was just reacting to what I thought was reality.
I wish I had all those books I read,
But with all my changes and moves,
More important things were kept,
Like this album of photographs
Of this person I used to be.
