Chain Letter
I got a strange letter last Thursday
which didn’t have a return address.
I decided I should open it anyway.
It could have been important, I guessed.
First, I was to give one I loved a kiss,
make copies of the letter I read,
and send it to 20 friends on a list
within 29 days or I could be dead.
There were testimonials who believed
that within weeks, I would be rich
and Lady Luck would smile upon me.
There wasn’t much investment risk.
All I needed was a few letters in the mail,
but I decided to throw the letter away.
There are better reasons for me to fail
than respond to a letter I got last Thursday.

Tired of saving those people from themselves,
The Lord, Our Father, was sad.
He mourned for the lost souls who thought
they were living,
but their hearts were really dead.
He cried for 40 days and 40 nights,
and it rained.
Those people who believed in the Lord’s plans,
like Noah, were saved from the flood,
and the dead were dead in life.
After this period of mourning, God promised
His people not to be that sad again, and his
rainbow is an everlasting reminder of His
pledge to love and help us unconditionally.

Porque Dios es mi Padre, Señor.
Él me da todo lo que se necesita.
Ha dado a su único hijo, Jesús,
que murió en una cruz para mí.
Puedo decir que esto va a ser un buen día.

Le coût humain
Pourquoi dois-je l’impression que vous voulez me crucifier,
juste parce que tu crois que je ne suis pas l’homme que j’ai besoin d’être.
Je sais que vous avez vos idées, mais vous avez besoin de voir
que l’homme dans votre esprit n’est pas une réalité.
Lorsque vous vous sentez comme une partie de votre vie est une perte,
Ce que vous ne réalisent pas c’est qu’il ya un coût humain.
J’ai déjà un emploi, ne pas besoin d’un autre patron.
Je ne serai pas un autre gars vous mettre sur la croix.
J’ai fait des erreurs, et avons beaucoup à apprendre,
Mais il peut y avoir de plus en plus de votre part, c’est sûr.
conte n’est pas une vie, autant que je suis concerné.

Why do I feel like you want to crucify me,
just because you think I’m not the man I need to be.
I know you have your ideas, but you need to see
that the man in your mind is not a reality.
When you feel like part of your life is a loss,
What you don’t realize is there is a human cost.
I already have a job; don’t need another boss.
I won’t be another guy you put on the cross.
I’ve made mistakes, and have lots to learn,
But there can be growing on your part, that’s for sure.
Life isn’t a storybook, as far as I’m concerned.
Decisions now will chose which road is turned.

In keeping with last week’s column theme, the subject will still be military personnel, but from a different point of view. One topic not covered is how the church organization and its members respond to a death of a soldier killed in action. There is the funeral at this church, where he or she was a member, and those are the facts announced in the news media.
There is more. What is not detailed, other than the usually military-themed, activities of the church for everyone, is staff of grief counselors who go into action. This is a dedicated group of trained and often licensed volunteers who have completed a series of workshops that deal with death and grief and people’s reactions to losing a loved one. I have gone through all five of these state-organized trainings myself.
Ever since people have been fighting wars, the soldier, the main tool of an army, may be expended. People hope and pray that their son, daughter, father, mother or other close relative does not die as a result of combat- related injuries. While on duty the church should play an important role in supporting the troops, and ours does. When one of our own is killed, the whole church suffers a loss, since people’s lives are so connected.
We have a special place of honor in the church for those who have been killed in battle for wars and operations that America has been involved with since World War I, about the time when our church was founded. Our grief counselors are experts in dealing with the subject, and I have specialized in how such a loss affects the youth of our church, the primary focus of my ministry. I can say that there is a process, and it takes time, up to several years depending on the individual and the closeness of the relationship to the decreased.
I try not to think of how my children would grow up without me around. I have made usual provisions, wills and such, but such a loss would affect them in many ways, however I have had people in my life leave this earth. I can personally relate to military-related losses. As a counselor, I deal with all aspects of the departed’s life to get those living to realize how much good the person brought to the world in life. In the end, this helps the persons grieving have a positive end to the cycle. As a minister, I can explain that there is life after our death on earth, and our Heavenly Father has a place for each of us.
