Goin’ Home

I looked for a place I
could always call home.
I was tired of running
my life on the road.
I was blind for a time
because I didn’t see
the place I wanted to
go was right in front of me.

I’m Sorry

I didn’t read the newspaper
on Sunday since I was in bed.
You weren’t there, again,
because of the words I said.

I didn’t read the newspaper
on Monday since it was all wet.
Tears from my pain soaked the
words as much as they could get.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I made a
mistake. What more can I say?
I just wan t you back with me today,
tomorrow, forever.

The front page on the weekend
is something I should have read.
I wouldn’t have felt so bad then
because of what the headline said.

The words of the front page declared,
“You’re the man for me.”
You wanted to get back together
and that’s the way it had to be.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I made a
mistake. What more can I say?
I just wan t you back with me
today, tomorrow, forever.I

It’s hard for me to apologize,
since some of the time I’m right.
The headlines say, “I’m sorry.”
I hope you’re with me tonight.

Stalked

Death is everywhere.
There’s a feeling I can’t see.
It stalks my every move, and
the next victim could be me.

… y entonces el viejo sabio
vuelta a la página siguiente

… and then the old sage
turned to the next page
of his future history book
and took a very long look
at what was going to
happen to me.
He said I didn’t want to see
what diverse roads were ahead,
and that I would only end up dead.
I told him he was wasting my time,
and demanded he refund my dime.

Watered-down dreams

I don’t need watered-down dreams,
Even though I’ve had enough of rain.
There’s more I can do it seems,
Even though my past has some stains.
I don’t think my life is complete,
And without you, it stays the same.

I don’t need watered-down dreams.
I’m sure of where I want to go.
There’s more I can do it seems,
But there’s more I need to know.
Changes have to happen in my life,
And I feel the lure of the open road.

I don’t need watered-down dreams.
Having you near is part of the plan.
There’s more I can do it seems,
And I do need the support of a fan
I don’t think my life is complete,
And I have to make my stand.

My Turn

I wish I could fall in love again.
It doesn’t seem to be my turn.
I see couples kiss and’ hold hands
to keep their love burning.
I’ve been in love before.
I like her lips against mine.
Something will happen to me
somewhere, someplace, sometime.

My mind is running fast,
but my body doesn’t know
which direction to go.

I Hear the Waves

Am I just another piece
of driftwood you put in
your garden to make your
plant and flowers look better?
From what I can see,
your blossoms can easily
bloom without me around.
You have collected
other wandering pieces
which washed up
from the high tide.
I hear the waves
calling me back to
the salty sea, my home,
and I must leave now.
