Brother Bill Kelso might have been referring to to his ex-wife in this poem or some other woman before he was married. He didn’t say much about it.

The wallpaper in your heart is just
as comfortable as it is in your house.
You like it. When it becomes hard to look at,
you change it and it sticks around for a
while until the paint store has a sale
on discontinued patterns.
You add to your past, layer by layer.
Sometimes a quick coat of paint is
good enough for a quick fix.
I want to cut through the collection
of colors and designs and shapes,
and rediscover the real emotions
that are buried by the layers
of what some have called love.
