A poem by Brother Alexander Michael Dunbar, one of newest members of LSC.
Sometimes reality is too real,
and I’m not sure how to feel.
I’m not sure why she’s the one
who got the bullet from the gun.
The girl was just playing outside
when the robber missed his mark.
Now my baby will never come inside,
and I’m not sure where to start.
It doesn’t really matter how
the Police shot the robber dead.
I’m not sure what to do now,
since I hear her voice in my head.
I try to deny she’s not here, or
think she’s asleep in her room.
There’s a hole in my heart I fear,
and feel she will return soon.
I hear a voice that says she’s gone
and I start to look around
to find the source of that sound.
Dad says the situation went wrong.
We need to celebrate the years of life
he says with tears in his eyes.
Then I look around and see my wife
and the only thing to do is cry.
