You told me you had to leave me to love me,
And at the time I didn’t really understand.
We had a good thing going together, and
You were my woman and I was your man.
You said you needed to go away, when I
All I could do was to beg you to stay.

I see now that you weren’t ready to
Love me the way I wanted to love you.
Then I said I would wait forever, and
My friends told me I was being a fool.
Now you are here, and you are back
Letting me hold you in my lonely arms.
You have changed in some ways, but
You have not lost your original charm.

I wonder if you were afraid of your love.
You had take some time to find yourself
Before you could come back to me.

But your past doesn’t matter now,
And you have come back to stay.
I’m sure it will always be this way.
