The Smile in the Park

I saw you playing your instrument
during the fall concert in the park,
and I noticed how you smiled at me.
I wondered if there was a possibility
perhaps that you could still be in love,
or was my interpretation my fantasy?
I remember we has such a rich history,
and ending it was such a tragedy.
Was your smile merely a romantic
reflection of the way it used to be?
I listened to the music, but I didn’t
really pay attention the notes.
I thought I’d wait long enough to talk
to you after you finished the show,
but halfway through I decided to go.
