My Destiny

A poem by Brother Brian Kohut

My Destiny

I must be allowed to fulfill my destiny.
I need to be who I think I ‘m supposed to be.
There will be many obstacles in my way.
To these people, here’s what I have to say.

When climbing a mountain, the cold
wind will blow into my face.
When walking a desert, the heat and
sand will be my enemy.
When dealing with people, they will
try to put me in their place.
When it comes to my life, I won’t
be denied my destiny.

I must be allowed to fulfill my destiny.
I need to be who I think I ‘m supposed to be.
There will be many obstacles in my way.
To these people, here’s what I have to say.

When running over hills, I will
survive to win any race.
When writing essays of life, I
will choose words perfectly.
When challenged by law, I will
win each and every case.
When it comes to my life, I won’t
be denied my destiny.

I must be allowed to fulfill my destiny.
I need to be who I think I ‘m supposed to be.
There will be many obstacles in my way.
I’ll climb every hurdle I meet without delay.
