Let Me Be

A poem by Brother C.J. Chatham III

Let Me Be

I’m not ready to fall in love
because I’m not strong anymore.
There is a part of me inside,
that’s missing and now is lost.
Old memories just can’t be replaced,
no matter what you think they cost.
When I want to be touched again.
I’ll call and let you in the door.

I can feel your love surround me,
but, honey, patience is the key.
You may win my love eventually,
but for now, honey, just let me be.
